Three members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Henry Mara, Emmanuel Kantiok, and Samuel Kambai, have announced their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). They cited the PDP's declining popularity, Governor Uba Sani's achievements, and the need for peace and stability in Kaduna State as reasons for their switch.

Three lawmakers representing the Kaduna State House of Assembly have switched their political allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) to the ruling All Progressives Congress ( APC ). Henry Mara, Emmanuel Kantiok, and Samuel Kambai formally announced their defection from the PDP to the APC in their respective wards on Thursday, February 13, 2025.

Mara, who represents the Jaba constituency, stated that his decision was driven by the PDP's declining popularity and its failure to align with his political aspirations. He predicted that this defection would be part of a larger trend, with more opposition members leaving the PDP for the APC, signifying a significant shift in the power dynamics within the Kaduna State House of Assembly. The trio also expressed their intention to join the APC in support of the achievements made by Governor Uba Sani since his inauguration. Kambai, representing the Zango constituency, highlighted the governor's impressive accomplishments over the past two years, attributing the decline of opposition parties to these successes. He emphasized that Governor Uba Sani's credible leadership has broken the long-standing grip of the PDP in Southern Kaduna, a region that has traditionally been a stronghold of the opposition since 1999. Kantiok, on the other hand, cited the PDP's struggles in Kaduna State, particularly the heightened insecurity that has plagued the region over the past eight years. However, he recognized the governor's efforts in restoring peace and stability, pledging to contribute to consolidating Governor Sani's achievements in Kaduna State
