In a statement posted on his X account on Wednesday, Makinde stated that appropriate measures have been taken to prevent such occurrences, and extended condolences to the families affected. He said, 'This morning, a terrible incident happened at Islamic High School, Basorun, where a parents' meeting was taking place. Sadly, a stampede at the event resulted in fatalities and injuries.' He added, 'This is a sad day for us in Oyo State. We offer our condolences to the parents who have lost their children due to this tragic incident.' He further stated, 'We have taken steps to ensure the safety of the area by deploying security personnel to restore order. Also, we have sent medical personnel and ambulances to the scene. The meeting has been suspended, and all participants have been evacuated from the premises. We are taking all necessary measures to guarantee the security of the location.' He concluded by saying, 'While investigations are ongoing, the organizers of the event which led to this stampede have been arrested.' The governor also assured that anyone found guilty would face the full weight of the law
