Budding singer, Kayset, has said that just as attention is given to celebrity musicians, emerging musicians with good sounds should also be supported.

He said, “Music is diverse and it cannot be monopolised by anybody. It is not supposed to be a one-man show. People have different tastes in music and as such, while superstars have carved a niche for themselves and are now enjoying the spotlight, up-and-coming artistes should also have the opportunity to court new fans.

“In the Nigeria music industry, rising acts practically have to pay their way to the top. There is no reward system for good music which should encourage musicians to do more. “Irrespective of where a song comes from, once it is of good quality, it should be given attention and the musician should be supported. That way, the industry would be healthier.”

Kayset also lamented that many up-and-coming acts were losing a lot of money to unscrupulous music agents who promised to help promote artistes but were actually fraudsters.
