According to him, the government should not be left to shoulder the burden alone saying funding is needed from philanthropists and corporate organisation to tackle the disease.

He said, “Nigeria recorded 138,593 new cases of tuberculosis in 2020. That was the highest ever even in the midst of COVID-19. Nigeria is number six in the burden of tuberculosis in the world. In Africa, Nigeria is number one in terms of TB burden and it is the same among children. When you look at it, the children seem to be neglected and the number of TB cases is increasing among the children.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. Babatunde Ekanola, lauded the donor and Cadmus for their efforts towards realisation of the centre. He said the university would ensure that the centre is well maintained and improved upon.All rights reserved.
