The Cross River State Police Command has arrested 26 suspects for the alleged killing of Mrs Martina Itagbor, who was accused of practising witchcraft.
The report of the arrest was contained in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Irene Ugbo, which she issued and made available to newsmen in Calabar on Tuesday.
She said Commissioner of Police Gyogon Grimah had directed the prosecution of those involved in the woman’s killing. Itagbor, a mother of four, was subsequently beaten and burned alive by youths in Netim, a community in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River.
