Authorities of Operation Safe Haven, the Special Task Force in Jos, Plateau State, have reacted to the allegations making the rounds that troops folded

their arms and watched while herdsmen attacked villages in Bassa Local Government Area of the state, killing residents and burning houses.In a statement on Sunday, the Operation Safe Haven said it was impossible to issue out orders to troops not to rescue Nigerians in distress, adding that it was also impossible for the troop not to respond to any order to rescue citizens in distress.

The human rights organisation alleged a systematic genocide in the state while calling the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General, Faruk Yahaya to carry out a quick and transparent investigation into the ongoing killings. The Operation Safe Haven described the allegation as false, baseless and a malicious and futile attempt to malign its good works in the states and others troubled areas.

“However, it would be appreciated if anyone has information that would help identify personnel that are alleged to have given such an excuse as to not give orders to respond to distress calls.
