Oro worshippers in Ogun State have been warned to desist from imposing daytime curfew in their localities because of it’s illegality.

Speaking at a meeting on Thursday, the Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Agbetokun told the traditionalists to “abide strictly with State Government’s directive, which stipulates that they can only carry out their activities from the hours of 12 midnight to 4:00 am.” He drew their attention to the stand of the Yewa Traditional Council, which he said emphasized that the Oro cult worshipers can only operate at midnight and not during the day.

A statement signed by the Head of Ipokia LG Information Department, S. A. Alabi, reads: “Hon. Agbetokun said that it is imperative to put into consideration, the WAEC and NECO examinations which are on among other activities. He declared that the government will not allow the education of the youths to be tampered with because they are the future of the Council Area.
