A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ota, Ogun State, on Thursday remanded five traditionalists in a custodial centre for allegedly attacking some Muslims in the Idiroko area of the state.
Violence broke out on Tuesday when the traditionalists, who had imposed a curfew over their Oro festival, clashed with the Muslim faithful, who were observing their evening prayer. It was also gathered that the Oro adherents attacked an Islamic cleric, Bola Wasiu, inflicting machete cuts on his head.learnt that during the clash, the Muslims got hold of three of the alleged attackers and handed them over to the police in the area.
The police arraigned five suspects on Thursday before Magistrate A. O. Adeyemi in connection with the attacks. The court admitted the traditionalists to bail, but they were unable to perfect their bail conditions.
