On the other hand, the Kuteb people are an ethno-linguistic group in West Africa, who speaks Kuteb, a Jukunoid language. Most of the Kuteb live in Taraba State, Nigeria. According to tradition the Kuteb migrated from Egypt about 1000 AD, eventually reaching their present location around 1510. The Kuteb people are made of the following clans which are believed to be children of Kuteb; Lumbu, Ticwo, Rufu, Askaen, Bika , Yikuben, Rubur, Acha, Tswaen, Likam, Cwumam, and the Rucwu.

He said both warring parties claim that the first attack which resulted in the crisis was triggered by the opposing side. In the blink of an eye, the Jukum student who was holding a big stick as a sign of culture descended on the Kuteb student.

Speaking exclusively with LEADERSHIP Weekend the rector, Taraba State Polytechnic, Mr. Ayuba Ibrahim said the school has suspended all cultural activities following the clash between the Jukum and Kuteb cultural groups. Also speaking exclusively with LEADERSHIP Weekend, the president, Student Union Government , Taraba State Polytechnic, Comr. Richard Dauda, who confirmed the clash between the two tribes described the incident as unfortunate development in the campus.

Speaking with LEADERSHIP Weekend John Marshall said recently a student of the institution invited some youths outside the polytechnic and attacked a 200-level student within the school premises. “The institution’s authority must change its approach to tackle these clashes or else it might lead to a serious mayhem in the campus community.”
