The National Association of Resident Doctors in Taraba State on Wednesday wrote Governor Darius Ishaku demanding an improved working condition.

In a letter addressed to Ishaku and signed by the President, Dr. Ahmed Uba, and Secretary, Dr. Sabo Rimande, the residents doctors asked the Governor to end casualisation of Medical Doctors at the State Specialist Hospital, Jalingo.

The doctors also demanded the domestication of Medical Residency Training Act in the state and commencement of internship training at State Specialist Hospital for Medical House Officers, Nurses, Laboratory Scientists and Pharmacists. This is even as the doctors demanded payment of COVID-19 inducement and hazard allowances for all healthcare workers in the state health services.

The letter read partly, “We wish to bring to the notice of your Excellency lingering issues affecting resident doctors in the state which include implementation and payment of arrears of doctors recently promoted.
