Former Adamawa REC Hudu Yunusa-Ari maintains his stance on declaring Aisha Binani the winner of the 2023 governorship election, despite his dismissal over alleged irregularities. He claims to have evidence and asserts his right to be heard, criticizing INEC and the electoral tribunal for disregarding his submissions.

Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the former resident electoral commissioner (REC) of Adamawa state, has refuted his dismissal following allegations of electoral irregularities in the 2023 governorship election. Yunusa-Ari responded to President Bola Tinubu's request to remove the suspended RECs of Adamawa, Abia, and Sokoto states for alleged misconduct.

In a press conference held in Bauchi, Yunusa-Ari stated that he had submitted multiple letters to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to present his perspective. He asserted that he possesses evidence to substantiate his decision to declare Aisha 'Binani' Dahiru, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the 2023 governorship election in Adamawa. However, he claimed that the electoral tribunal responsible for the Adamawa governorship election declined to consider his evidence. During the conference, he displayed documents he alleged were authentic result sheets, along with letters he had sent to INEC.Yunusa-Ari expressed no remorse for his actions and stated that he would make the same choice if given another opportunity, believing he acted on the side of truth. He emphasized the legal principle of natural justice, which guarantees the right to be heard. He criticized INEC for disregarding his letters and the tribunal for rejecting his evidence, questioning how any impartial judge could condone such conduct. Yunusa-Ari declared Aisha Binani as the winner of the Adamawa governorship supplementary poll before the collation of results was finalized. On April 20, 2023, former President Muhammadu Buhari approved the suspension of the Adamawa REC pending the outcome of a police investigation. On July 6, 2024, INEC filed a six-count charge against Yunusa-Ari before a high court in Yola, Adamawa state capital

The National Industrial Court ruled in their favor in May 2024, ordering ICCON and the Federal Ministry of Health to reinstate them and pay their salary arrears.
