INEC says it will work with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and 427 lawyers to prosecute the alleged offenders

The Independent National Electoral Commission said it has received the case file of the Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner , Hudu Ari, who illegally declared the result of the governorship election in the state in April.

Speaking when he received other RECs from across the country for the post-election review of 2023 polls, he said: “I can confirm that the Nigeria Police concluded its investigation of the conduct of our Resident Electoral Commissioner in Adamawa State and submitted the case file to us. Appropriate action will be taken in a matter of days and Nigerians will be fully informed.”

“We are presently looking at all the evidence of infractions during the election, including the prosecution of offenders. We are looking at the activities of all actors involved in the election, including some of our high-ranking officials.”Mr Yakubu said the commission would be working with the Nigerian Bar Association to prosecute the alleged offenders.
