Australian firm Chariot Resources Limited announces independent mineralogical testwork confirming spodumene presence across all verification samples from its Fonlo and Iganna lithium projects in Nigeria. The analysis also identified pollucite in Iganna samples. The projects are part of a larger lithium portfolio.
April 14, 2026 3:00 pm Chariot Resources Limited, an Australian firm, says independent mineralogical testwork has confirmed the presence of spodumene across all six previously disclosed verification samples from its Fonlo and Iganna projects in south west Nigeria .
found in hard rock deposits, used mainly to produce lithium for batteries. In a statement dated April 9, the company said the analysis also identified pollucite in the highest-caesium samples from Iganna. The Fonlo and Iganna assets are part of a portfolio of four lithium projects in which Chariot is acquiring a 66.667 percent interest, under a share sale agreement announced on July 10, 2025, and a subsequent variation deed disclosed on December 3, 2025.
Chariot said the testwork was conducted by the Electron Microbeam/X-Ray Diffraction Facility at the University of British Columbia , using X-ray powder diffraction and Rietveld refinement on selected samples. According to the company, spodumene was identified in all six samples, with the three Fonlo samples containing between 34.1 weight percent and 53.1 weight percent spodumene, while quartz and plagioclase were identified as the dominant associated minerals. At Iganna, one sample showed a mixed mineral composition, according to the company, while two others were spodumene-dominant and also contained notable quantities of pollucite.
The Australian firm said pollucite was quantified at 9.5 weight percent in one sample and 4.4 weight percent in another, aligning with previously reported elevated caesium values. “UBC also flagged minor amblygonite-montebrasite in sample 1069100 as a low-confidence identification,” Chariot said. “UBC did not identify lepidolite in the six analyzed verification samples. That result applies only to those selected samples and does not exclude lepidolite elsewhere at Iganna, where Chariot has previously reported visual observations of spodumene and lepidolite/lithium mica in pegmatites.” The firm said the findings strengthen its geological understanding of the Fonlo and Iganna projects and provide a clearer basis for follow-up metallurgical testwork.
Chariot added that further drilling and analysis will be required to determine the continuity of mineralisation, recovery potential, and overall scale of the deposits.the acquisition of six lithium mining licences, marking its entry into Nigeria’s lithium sector. Chariot said the Mining Cadastre Office approved the transfer of the licences to C&C Minerals Limited, a Nigerian
According to the statement, the licences include exploration assets across the Fonlo and Gbugbu projects, as well as small-scale mining interests in the Saki project.
