Deji Adeyanju, a popular activist and lawyer, has rebuked Minister Nyesom Wike for his vow to unseat Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory at the Nigerian Senate.Adeyanju said that only the residents of FCT, not Wike, can decide who will become senator in 2027.Adeyanju's response comes amid a face-off between Wike and Kingibe, who had criticized the minister's focus on infrastructural projects with minimal impact on FCT residents.
He noted that even incumbent presidents have been defeated in the FCT.Adeyanju expressed concern over Wike's arrogance, attributing it to his perceived control over the Independent National Electoral Commission and other rigging mechanisms. He wrote on X, “Only the people of FCT can decide who becomes Senator in 2027, not Wike. The arrogance of power is what will make Wike think he can decide for the people.“FCT is not Rivers, where people write results and shoot guns.
