Following series of attacks on its premises by angry mobs and protesters in some parts of the country, MTN Nigeria has shut its outlet on Ogunnusi Road, Ojodu, Lagos, while armed policemen were also deployed to man the premises.

South African businesses, including MTN, Shoprite and PEP had come under series of attacks by angry Nigerians since Tuesday in retaliation for the attack on Nigerians in South Africa. In a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos, Olubajo said, “The mob also looted several shops that were around the vicinity suspected to be owned by foreign nationals. But the police later dispersed the mob and made some arrests.

“Also, some businesses owned by foreign nationals were looted in Germiston on Sunday evening. A Nigerian-owned Internet Café and computer accessories business was among the looted shops in Germiston. Thus, in apparent retaliation, some angry Nigerians attacked business interests of South Africans in different parts of Nigeria on Tuesday.
