Kano State governor Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf has pledged to take serious steps to ameliorate the sufferings of the people caused by the lingering water scarcity

He matched his words with action by giving a one-week ultimatum to the management of the Kano State Water Board to submit its demands to end the perennial water shortage in the state.

Yusuf spoke yesterday during an inspection of the Challawa Water Treatment Plant, Kano. The governor said his administration had declared a state of emergency, to solve the problem of water scarcity across the state. The governor however, expressed dissatisfaction with the dilapidated condition of the facilities at the water treatment plant, saying that the issue of water shortage would soon become history.

He said the state government would fulfill its campaign promises, and urged Kano residents to give him the maximum cooperation.
