Mr Muyiwa Olumilua, the second son of the late former governor of the old Ondo State , Evangelist Bamidele Olumilua, said on Thursday that the children, family and indeed Ekiti State would miss the wi
se counsel of the departed elder statesman.
Muyiwa, who is Ekiti State Commissioner for Information, spoke glowingly of his late father, saying, “I pray that those of us he left behind will be able to follow in his footsteps and build on the legacies he left behind.”the former governor’s son said, “Evangelist Olumilua was the pillar of this family, a pillar of this community, state and nation. He was a forthright man and a god-fearing person. He loved God with all his might and he loved his people more than anything.
The commissioner, who appreciated Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, who paid condolence visit to the family, said, “Truly, we can’t say we are mourning, because Baba lived a good life, a fulfilled life, but all the same, no matter how fulfilled a life is, the loved ones left behind will always have some sense of sorrow.”
Fayemi urged the family of the deceased to take solace in the fact that he lived a fulfilled life and left legacies of service, statesmanship, peacemaking, service in God’s vineyard and honour. Also, the Chairman Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, in his condolence message, described Olumilua “as an astute elder statesman with voracious zeal and passion for the progress and development of the state and its people.
The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Segun Ajiboye, described the late politician as a great mind who injected a lot of thinking into governance.
