The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed his commitment to ensuring that Lagosians have access to safe food.
Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo, made this known on Wednesday during the first edition of the Lagos State Food Safety Conference and Exhibition in Alausa, Ikeja. He said, “An estimated 420,000 people die every year after eating contaminated foods. The undeniable fact from statistics is that unsafe food is a threat to human health and economy because healthy individuals make healthy economy, in other words, access to sufficient amount of safe food is a key to sustaining life and promoting good health.”
Also, the General Manager, Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency, Afolabi Solebo, expressed hope that the government would ensure food security for people of the state.
