The Defence Headquarters says troops of Operation AWATSE have destroyed 15 hectares of marijuana farm at Mabu village in Ijebu LGA of Ogun.
Planting or growing cannabis in Nigeria is regarded as a serious offence.
Danmadami also said troops conducted operation activities at Yewa North, Abeokuta South and Ipokia LGAs of Ogun state.“Other locations include Baruba in Ilasa Local Government Area of Osun State and Ifon in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State as well as Olorunda and Kosefe Local Government Areas of Lagos State respectively,” he said.
“Consequently, within the weeks in review, troops recovered 258 bags of 50kg foreign rice, 220 jerrycans of 30 litres Premium Motor Spirit, 4 vehicle, arrested 2 criminals and rescued 2 civilians. All recovered items, apprehended criminals and rescued civilians were handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.”
