Mr Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, has commiserated with the residents of the Trademore Estate in Lugbe, Abuja, over the flooding incident that

Obi described the incident as a major disaster, saying it was very heartbreaking.

In a statement via his verified Twitter handle on Saturday, Obi commended the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Fire Service, FCT FEMA, Red Cross, and Federal Ministry of Environment-Flood Department for doing their best to alleviate the situation. The former Anambra State governor further called for urgent provision of humanitarian help for the residents to enable them to carry on with their normal lives.

“While I appreciate the NEMA, Fire Service, FCT FEMA, Red Cross, and Federal Ministry of Environment-Flood Department for doing their best to alleviate the situation, there is still a need to find a lasting solution to this recurrent flooding challenge in that area of the nation’s capital city.
