Football writer Caroline Wilson believes it is within the right of the AFL to take action over Collingwood president Eddie McGuire’s controversial comments about a coin toss on Friday.

Football writer Caroline Wilson believes it is within the right of the AFL to take action over Collingwood president Eddie McGuire’s, said that, in the past, the AFL had used its right to take action against a club president.

McGuire withdrew from his scheduled Fox Footy broadcast on Saturday and apologised for a second time after widespread condemnation of his comments aimed at the academic and double amputee, who had been invited by the Swans to toss the coin before the game.“He is a club president so it is within their right to do something and they have done so in the past," Wilson told 3AW.

The AFL has thus far declined to comment if they would be taking any action against the Collingwood owner, however, a spokeswoman for the AFL said McGuire's comments do not reflect the views or values of the organisation.
