Tension in Edo as gunmen abduct policeman, others vanguardngr.com vanguardnews
The police officer who was said to be in mufti was said to be travelling to Asaba when the vehicle he was travelling in was stopped by the gunmen who were on the road apparently for kidnapping and he and others were reportedly taken into the bush.
Also, a pastor of a popular church who was travelling on the same route was also reportedly attacked was shot but now receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Asaba. Men from the various police tactical teams, Irrua Area commander and the Divisional police officers in that area have mobilised to the area to rescue the policeman and other kidnapped persons unhurt.The police has mobilised all its men and equipment to rescue the kidnapped policeman and others and have reportedly taken over the forest in Ubiaja, Uromi, Okhuessan, Ewohimi up to neighbouring Agbor in Delta state in search of their colleague.
Edo Police spokesman, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident and said good news would soon emerge from the tactical teamwork in the forest.
