A former senator and Kaduna Central national assembly representative, Shehu Sani , has suggested reasons behind the escalating tensions at the Kano Emir 's palace. The tension peaked early Friday morning when police officers, heavily equipped, surrounded the Emir of Kano’s residence starting from 6 a.m. According to reports, this tension might be linked to Emir Muhammadu Sanusi 's plans to appoint a district head for Bichi town.

In a post on X, Sani emphasized the importance of exercising restraint during conflicts over the Kano emirship for the sake of peace. This is not the first controversy involving the Kano emirship. Previously, in May, former Emir Aminu Ado Bayero was deposed and replaced with Muhammadu Sanusi II during his absence. Bayero later returned and settled at the Nassarawa mini palace, leading to legal disputes supporting or opposing the government's actions
