Former senator Shehu Sani has called for restraint in the application of force following the tension at the Kano Emir's palace. The tension began early Friday when police officers took over the palace, surrounding it with advanced gear. The situation is believed to be linked to the Emir's intention to appoint a district head for Bichi town.
A former senator who represented Kaduna Central in the national assembly, Shehu Sani has dropped a hint on the reason for tension at the palace of Kano Emir. Senator Shehu in a short message on his X handle, said, 'In the interest of peace, there should be serious restraint in the application of force, might, and power over the Kano emirship tussle.
The recent development is not the first time the Kano emirship has been embroiled in controversy.Recall that in May, the former Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero was dethroned by Governor Abba Yusuf while he was away and was replaced with the reinstatement of the 16th Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, who was immediately moved to the Kofar Kudu palace.
