Rivers Assembly confirms four commissioner-nominees | The Guardian Nigeria News - Nigeria and World News ⬇️
At the resumption of plenary, yesterday, the Speaker of the House, Ikunyi Awaji-Ibani, read out a correspondence from the governor, requesting the House to screen and confirm the shortlisted persons as commissioner-designates and members of the state executive.
All four nominees were former commissioners in the cabinet of immediate past governor of the state, Nyesom Wike. The nominees are former Attorney-General of the state, Prof. Zaccheaus Adangor former Commissioner for Works, Dr. Dakorinama George-Kelly; former Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu, and former Commissioner for Education, Prof. ChineduIn his remarks, the Speaker noted that the nominees performed very well while serving in the past administration, stressing that their confirmation will further consolidate achievements of the past government.
Corroborating the Speaker’s remarks, the leader of the state Assembly, Martins Ameawhule, representing Obio/Akpor Constituency I, moved a motion for the nominees to take a bow and exit the chamber. Following the decision of the House, the Speaker confirmed the nomination and directed the clerk to forward resolution to the governor.
