Residents Drag Ogun State Government (OGSG_Official), Guangdong China-Africa Trade Zone To Court Over Illegal Encroachment Of Lands, Destruction Of Properties | Sahara Reporters

Residents Drag Ogun State Government, Guangdong China-Africa Trade Zone To Court Over Illegal Encroachment Of Lands, Destruction Of PropertiesSome Ogun State residents have dragged the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led state government, the Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone, and the China-Africa Investment Free Trade Zone to court over illegal encroachment of their lands.

In the case file seen by SaharaReporters, the families are also asking the court for an order declaring as illegal the acquisition of their lands by the Ogun State Government without payment of necessary compensation to the land owners. “An Order setting aside any purported acquisition of the parcel of land at Igbessa, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, Nigeria belonging to the Claimants by the 1s defendants forthwith in favour of the 2nd & 3rd Defendants, unless there is evidence of payment of land compensation.

The magistrate held that the evidence tendered by the prosecution is “not sufficient to justify the continuation of the trial on its own motion”. The leaders said that all efforts to caution the Chinese investors not to exceed the area marked for the Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone had failed.
