Nigeria’s cultural diversity was on display as pupils of BlossomHall Academy, Abuja marked the country’s 63rd anniversary.
Speaking during the event which held in Utako, Abuja on Friday, the director and Proprietress of the school, Mrs Adeola Remi-John, said the idea behind this year’s cultural day celebration was to showcase the diversity in Nigeria’s culture.
“ At this National/cultural day celebration, we deliberately wanted to showcase tribes in the North Central. That is the Nupe, Gbagyi, Berom, Koro, Tiv and more. So, each class represented a tribe and they displayed the dance, attire and values of the language to show that there is unity in diversity,” she said.
The special guest of honour and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, in Niger State, Khadijah Abdullahi-Iya, in her address, tasked parents to teach children their culture and values. “Teaching the children the significance of their heritage is one of the most important things you can give to them. I know some adults who say their parents cheated them for not teaching them their language. It’s not too late to begin to teach them your tribe and what makes them unique making them understand who they are and their history.
