Historically, the title of ‘Sarkin Yakin’ only belongs to the first among warriors of Ringim kingdom, whose main duties include safe-guarding the territorial integrity of the kingdom and leading the territorial army on the battlefield.

In modern times however, the title of Sarkin Yakin could be bestowed on any person of bravery and sound intellect from any part of the state. We received with shock the death of Sarkin Yaƙin Ringim, Shehu Uba Ladan. This is a huge loss to the Ringim Emirate in which he is a Kingmaker and to Jigawa State in which he is a stakeholder.
