The Lagos police command says its operatives have arrested two individuals for allegedly stealing and selling electricity cable worth N632,000 to a scrap metal buyer for N30,000.
on Wednesday, the command said the suspects apprehended were security guards of a telco company based in Ogba, Ikeja.
The command said men of the Rapid Response Squad apprehended one of the suspects identified as Adebayo Afeez at an unnamed company’s premises, following a tip from Musbau Amodu, the buyer. “The security guard, Adebayo Afeez, 37, was arrested in the company’s premises after the buyer of the cable, Musbau Amodu, 32, led the operatives to the seller,” the post reads.“The operatives patrolling Ogba around 4:00 a.m. on Sunday arrested Amodu with the wrapped cable for failing to satisfactorily explain how he got a 4mm armored cable measuring 100 meters and another, a 10mm cable of about 20 metres.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that Adebayo stole the cables from the company’s store before selling them to Amodu around 4:00 a.m. for N30,000 on Sunday. The cable according to the company’s source is worth N632,000. “Investigations further revealed that they have been transacting since Adebayo was deployed to the Ogba-based company as a guard from his employing security firm.”
