The Edo State Police has arrested two suspects for alleged conspiracy, threat to life and arson on one Evelyn Akpan. The Commissioner of Police, Nemi Iwo disclosed this on Sunday in a statement signed by Moses Yamu, the Public Relations Officer of the Command.
The statement made available to newsmen in Benin City gave the names of the suspects as Prince Anthony Uwa and William Ugiagdor . Iwo said the arrest of the suspects followed the complaint laid by the victim on September 30, 2024, that an unknown person sent her text messages threatening to burn down her house and assassinate her entire family if she did not pay the sum of N1.5 million.
He explained that on receiving the complaint, the operatives of the Command through proper intelligence tracked down and arrested the suspects, who have since confessed to the crime. Yamu called on the people of the state, especially the youths to eschew crime and criminal activities and rather embrace and explore legitimate opportunities, pursue education and develop skills that would benefit them and their communities.
