The Kano State Police Command has arrested 17 suspected thugs allegedly planning a violent protest in the state. The police disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.
According to the statement, the arrests followed credible intelligence reports indicating that certain individuals were planning to disrupt public peace through a violent demonstration. In response, the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, deployed personnel and resources to strategic locations within Kano Metropolis to prevent the unrest. “As a result of these proactive measures, 17 suspected thugs have been arrested, and investigation is ongoing,” the statement read.
“The Command is committed to ensuring that the perpetrators of this planned violence are brought to justice.” The police further warned individuals and groups against engaging in unlawful gatherings, processions, or any act capable of breaching public peace. SP Kiyawa assured Kano residents that adequate security measures had been put in place to prevent any breakdown of law and order. He also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
