A coalition of support groups affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has emphasized that the party's 2027 presidential ticket should go to a Southern candidate to benefit the party. This comes after former candidate Atiku Abubakar's intentions to run again were revealed. The coalition's National Coordinator, Grema Mohammed, and Publicity Secretary, Usman Saeedu, have stressed the importance of prioritizing the Southern region to strengthen PDP's position.

He noted that to achieve this, the party must advance by selecting dynamic, knowledgeable, and reliable candidates to represent it in the upcoming presidential election. The group said, “We are calling for a twin reform of zoning the party ticket to the South and seeking out competency and ability as the guiding benchmark, saying PDP cannot afford other mistakes.
