Panel Indicts 15 Persons over Missing N5․778bn Pension Fund in Niger

The panel set up by the Niger State Government to look into Pension Fund administration in the state between 2009 and 2012 has indicted 15 persons over N5.778 billion missing from the fund.The Director General of the state Pension Board, Alhaji Usman Tinau Ahmed, said while briefing newsmen in Minna on Wednesday that Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has approved that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission should be invited to help recover the missing money.

He disclosed that the missing money did not pass through the board, according to the findings of the panel. Ahmed said three PFAs have been selected to manage the contributions, one each for state workers and local government staff, while the third is for the state Universal Basic Education Board , adding that two other PFAs have been selected to manage the 5 per cent deduction for the state and local governments.
