Oyo State Fire Service successfully rescued a 12-year-old boy who fell into the Renascent River in Ibadan. The boy was rescued by fire personnel using search and rescue equipment and has been taken to a hospital for medical attention.
Oyo State Fire Service has rescued a 12-year-old boy from a river in Ibadan , the state capital. The boy fell into the Renascent River located at Adekanbi Street, Ajibola Area in Aremo, Ibadan . The incident occurred on Tuesday. Our correspondent learnt that the fire agency was informed immediately the incident occurred. The boy was thereafter rescued by men of the agency. General Manager of the agency, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka confirmed the development to DAILY POST.
He added that the boy has been handed over to his parents, and subsequently moved to a hospital for medical attention. 'The fire personnel were promptly deployed to the scene and on arrival we got to work through search and rescue equipment and able to rescue the twelve (12) years old boy from the deep river. 'He was handed over to his parents and conveyed to the nearest hospital for proper medical treatment. 'According to our investigation, the victim sank when he was trying to pass through to the other side of the river.
