Medical doctors in Ondo State have threatened to down tools following the alleged failure of the state government to fulfil its promise of implementing the 50% basic salary as special COVID-19 hazard allowance for all.
On May 4, 2020, Governor Akeredolu had during one of his media briefings on the COVID-19 pandemic in the state announced that all health workers in the stateof their consolidated basic salary as hazard allowance in recognition of their service in the fight against the deadly disease. Reading the communique after the SEC meeting, the state Chairman of NAGGMDP, Dr. Aina Oluwafemi also disclosed that 2.5% was deducted from the doctor’s consolidated basic salary without prior notice.
