Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex body representing Ndigbo worldwide, has announced the establishment of its National Elections Committee, tasked with overseeing the transition of leadership from Imo State to Rivers State by January 2025.
The committee will be headed by the esteemed Prince Dr. Richard Ozobu, an accomplished USA-trained Chartered Accountant, and a member of the Imeobi Ohanaeze Ndigbo since 2000. His words: 'The successful conclave of the Ohanaeze Elders and Imeobi serves as the bedrock upon which we expect the new electoral team to build.
'It is critical that we safeguard the integrity of our constitution and legacy from political subversion, particularly as some figures have sought to co-opt the organization for their agendas ahead of the 2027 elections.
