Ohanaeze Ndigbo , the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has expressed deep concern over the rumored planned declaration of Biafra . In a statement issued by the organization's Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Ohanaeze warned against the misguided declarations of Biafra n independence scheduled for December 2, 2024.
The body criticized the actions of detained Simon Ekpa and his dissidents, stating that their activities have led to a cycle of violence, fear, and socio-economic degradation in the Southeastern region of Nigeria. Isiguzoro emphasized the economic and social losses incurred, noting that over 34 trillion naira in investment opportunities have been lost due to the unrest, and questioned the tangible benefits of the insurrection to the Southeastern people
