Enyimba laid down a marker for the season as they defeated Nasarawa United 2-1 in a thrilling contest at the New Jos Stadium on Saturday night.
Nasarawa United were denied the use of their home ground, Lafia Township Stadium due to renovation works going on there and the hosts were outplayed in front of a scanty crowd in Jos. Eight-time Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Enyimba took the lead two minutes after the half hour mark.George Finidi’s side doubled their advantage five minutes later courtesy of Imo Obot’s fine finish.
Enyimba had to withstand late pressure from the home team after Oche Josiah reduced the deficit three minutes from time.Action will continue in the NPFL with more matches on Sunday.
