The Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr Mohammed Gumel, has debunked reports on the alleged recruitment of a criminal into the Nigeria Police Force in the state.
Gumel told newsmen in Kano on Tuesday that one Nasiru Abdullahi was among the 222 ‘repentant influential youths’ who denounced violence and chose to become good ambassadors of the state. According to him, Abdullahi, also known as ‘Chile Madobi’, was among the youths who had been granted amnesty by the state government.
” He further stated that investigations indicated that Abdullahi had no criminal records in any court of law, adding, 'I challenge anybody to go and verify this fact.' He added, 'It is very unfortunate that some people are bent on tarnishing the image and reputation of the Nigerian Police, but they will not succeed. “Police will remain committed to protecting the lives and property of citizens. ” We appeal to the public to disregard such reports.
