The Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, has warned that it would wield the big stick against any doctor who continues to promote factionalisation in the association. The warning came after the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the NMA concluded a review of chapter elections in Enugu, Zamfara, Edo and Kogi states.
It ratified the elections conducted in those states. This was contained in a communique issued after a recent meeting of the NMA in Abuja, signed by the President of the NMA , Prof. Bala Audu and the Secretary General of the Association, Dr Ben Egbo. In the case of Enugu , the NEC okayed the election of Dr. Chibuzor Ndiokwelu as Chairman and Dr. Chukwuemeka Nelson Agbo as Secretary.
Chukwuemeka Nelson Agbo as Secretary of NMA Enugu State, recognizing the absence of pre- or post-election petitions to the NEC challenging the electoral process in the state,” it said in the resolution. Reacting through a press statement made available to journalists on Sunday, Ndiokwelu warned that “mechanisms have been activated via the regulatory bodies and law enforcement agencies for punitive measures to curtail the activities of any Medical Doctor engaging in nefarious activities.
