The National Association Of Nigerian Students (NANS) has backed the suspension of Mr Godwin Emefiele as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) by President Bola Tinubu for allegedly funding a terrorist group among other infractions. NANS stated this in a press statement by Vice President, Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, on Saturday. SaharaReporters had reported that the president suspended Emefiele from office on Friday with immediate effect due to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.

Reacting to this, NANS applauded President Tinubu and urged him to also work on bracing up the value of the Nigerian currency, Naira in the global market. “Others are; fall of the naira, failed design and implementation of the new naira amongst other policies as Mr Godwin Emefiele stretched the powers of that office beyond its limits and did abuse the office at the expense of the ordinary man.
