Created to provide a report before public hearings , the committee will consult with the Attorney General of the Federation, the executive branch, and other stakeholders. The directive was issued during a plenary session led by Deputy Senate President Sen. Barau Jibrin.

The committee, chaired by Minority Leader Senator Abba Moro, includes other prominent senators. President Tinubu's tax reform bills, submitted on October 3, 2024, have faced opposition from various groups
