Nigerian Newspapers: 10 things you need to know this Sunday morning

1. The Independent National Electoral Commission has insisted it has the capacity to transmit election results electronically from remote areas across Nigeria. Mr Festus Okoye, INEC’s National Chairman and Commissioner for Information and Voter Education stated this on Saturday while featuring on Channels TV program.

3. The Federal Government has said that in line with operative conventions and laws, it will take possession of the 1,130 looted Benin bronzes being expected from Germany. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Saturday in Lagos, addressed a news conference on efforts by the federal government to repatriate the looted artefacts around the world.

5. Two sisters between the ages of 9 and 11 have been killed by a rainstorm in Ja’oje village, Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State. Confirming the incident yesterday, the director, Relief and Rehabilitation in the State Emergency Management Agency , Mustapha Umar, also said 144 animals were killed by the storm.

7. The Enugu State Ministry of Health yesterday, confirmed that there was a cholera outbreak in New Artisan Market, Enugu, which caused the death of seven people in the market with 19 sick persons identified with the symptoms of stooling and vomiting. Commissioner for Health, Dr Emmanuel Ikechukwu Obi, confirmed the outbreak.
