1. The Academic Staff Union of University has succumbed to pressure and has suspended its eight-month-old industrial action. The union made the decision after National Executive Committee, NEC met yesterday.

3. Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has reiterated the call to remove Iyorchia Ayu as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Wike explained that he has accepted Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of PDP and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Rivers State as the party’s running mate, but Ayu must resign.

5. The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has disclosed that the Dangote Petroleum Refinery is now 97 per cent completed. The refinery, with 650,000 barrels per-day installed capacity, is expected to double the total output of Nigeria’s existing ailing refining infrastructure and meet 100 per cent of the country’s requirement of all refined products.

7. At least one person was shot dead and another abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Wednesday on Gana Street in the Maitama area of the Federal Capital Territory. Confirming the incident on Thursday, the FCT police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said the police were investigating the incident.
