Nigeria Records 501 New COVID-19 Cases, Eight More Deaths
The novel coronavirus has killed at least 427,495 people worldwide since the outbreak emerged in China last December, according to a tally from official sources compiled by AFP at 1900 GMT on Saturday.
The tallies, using data collected by AFP from national authorities and information from the World Health Organization , probably reflect only a fraction of the actual number of infections.The United States is the worst-hit country with 115,059 deaths from 2,061,315 cases. At least 547,386 people have been declared recovered.
Per 100,000 population, Belgium has the highest fatality rate with 83 deaths ahead of the United Kingdom , Spain , Italy , and Sweden .
