Two years ago, almost half of Nigeria’s population was living ‘below the international poverty line ($2 per day)’, even as ‘unemployment peaked at 23.1%.’ I doubt if Nigerians have got any better since 2018.
Very recently, ‘Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s vice president and chairman of the Economic Sustainability Committee projected that, “except something urgent is done, about 39.4 million Nigerians” risked being jobless by the end of the Year 2020. According to him, “millions may slide into extreme poverty before” COVID-19 “pandemic ends.”

Two years ago, almost half of Nigeria’s population was living ‘below the international poverty line ’, even as ‘unemployment peaked at 23.1%.’ I doubt if Nigerians have got any better since 2018.

He died on Friday, June 12, 2020, after a protracted illness.
