Moxey, Elliott help Stampeders solidify the boundary CFL
The decision to move Jonathan Moxey from the field side corner position to the boundary side in the Calgary Stampeders’ Week 16 win over the B.C. Lions paid immediate dividends.Several times over the past couple of weeks, Calgary Stampeders head coach Dave Dickenson has talked about how his team seems to have solidified the boundary side of its defensive backfield.
Moxey was a CFLPA all-star at the field corner position last season and wasn’t expected to make the switch to the boundary side, which typically sees more action because it’s on the shorter side of the field. “At the end of the day, I’m going to lock up,” Moxey said. “I’m going to accept the challenge if they bring it and I’m going to make adjustments throughout the game. If that’s something they want to do, I welcome the challenge. That’s what we play football for.”
Together, the two defensive backs seem to have a built-in connection and way of communicating that has helped the pairing thrive.
