Residents of the Akute community in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State have cried out for help following the state of an abandoned bridge where refuse and illegal shanties have taken over.
Some of the residents who expressed displeasure on how the state government had abandoned the bridge questioned why it would begin the construction of such an overhead bridge in the area at all, adding that there had never been any traffic issues along the area.
“They are the boys who used to pick up plastic, waste and metals. The place was not as terrible as this at the beginning of this year. But look at it now. It is an eyesore. In the morning, if you check the other end of the bridge, beggars used to line up there in their numbers including young children. They keep increasing daily,” Adesanya said.have turned the place into their den at night.
