Argentina captain, Lionel Messi, has spoken to Paris Saint-Germain manager, Mauricio Pochettino, about a potential move to the French Ligue 1 giants after
Messi leaves Barcelona after failing to sign a new five-year contract on Thursday.
The 34-year-old, who first joined Barcelona’s Academy in 2000, will now play for another club in the 2021/22 season. The forward has already been heavily linked with PSG, where he could reunite with his friend, Neymar. However, Independent UK is now reporting that Messi had direct talks with Pochettino late on Thursday night in a bid to join PSG.Pochettino’s side currently looks like the most viable option, as one of the few clubs able to afford Messi’s wages.
It’s unlikely Messi will get the wage he was paid at Barcelona, but he could still earn up to £500,000-a-week salary, depending on the economic opportunities he offers.
