Lagos to empower fish farmers

The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has commenced a 10-day poverty alleviation programme in locations across the state.

The current effort is a catfish production programme organised in collaboration with GIZ and the Nigerian Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research.

The poverty alleviation programme, which, according to the ministry, consecutively runs through three divisions of Lagos State: Epe, Ikorodu, and Badagry, has 150 participants as beneficiaries.The participants “will be empowered with start-up kits in order to enhance their trade proficiencies upon completion of the training,” the ministry stated in a Tuesday publication.
